Patient Support Program Project Team Sharing Session

We are pleased to inform HKAPI members about a successful online sharing session hosted by the HKAPI PSP Archetype for Hong Kong & DPMS Project Team on April 16th. This session was designed to share the principles and operational guidelines for running effective patient support programs (PSPs) within the Hospital Authority (HA).

The Project Team previously engaged with the HA Chief Pharmacist Office (CPO) to discuss the offerings of pharmaceutical companies’ PSPs and their potential impact on the new drug enlistment process, particularly in light of the HA’s recently introduced Drug Advisory Committee (DAC) enlistment mechanism.
Over 120 members participated in the session, which began with an overview from Ms. Sabrina Chan, Senior Executive Director of HKAPI, who provided context on the project team’s efforts and the background of the initiative. Following her introduction, Project Team Co-Lead Ms. Bonnie Yuen outlined the key principles and guidelines for implementing PSPs effectively.
The session included an interactive Q&A segment, where Ms. Sui Wong, also a Co-Lead of the Project Team, joined Bonnie to address member inquiries. This engagement allowed for a robust discussion on the practicalities of PSPs and their relevance to the current healthcare landscape.
To conclude the session, Mr. Nicholas Teo, Project Team Sponsor, delivered closing remarks. He summarized the key learnings from the Project Team’s collaboration with HA on the Patient Support Program and emphasized the importance of strategic insights for navigating the dynamic market environment. Mr. Teo encouraged members to share their own experiences—both successes and challenges—so that HKAPI can incorporate these insights into future constructive discussions with the CPO.
We thank all participants for their engagement and look forward to continuing our collaborative efforts to enhance patient support programs in Hong Kong.
